Welcome to "Feeling Lucky, Punk?" Magazine.
It's an online magazine that you can contribute to easily and for free! :)
Have an opinion you'd like to get out, etc.?
Then keep on reading this journal.

Since this is the first journal on "Feeling Lucky Punk?" magazine's deviantART, I think I should tell you a little bit about myself and my hopes for this magazine.

My name is Kayla, my regular deviantART account is :iconsombrexromantique:.
I'm seventeen and I've had an idea to start my own type of magazine for quite a while now so I thought "why not?".

Haha, I am aware that the name of this magazine is quite odd but I thought it to be fitting; it's a quote by Joe Strummer of The Clash.
He said "Feeling Lucky, Punk?...Oh, Good."
I thought it fit the free spirit sense I want this magazine to have...I want people to be able to get their opinions/thoughts out there and give people as well as myself an opportunity to be heard.
I think it would be very awesome if this little magazine could be printed out individually and distributed around the world, giving it a worldly view.

That said, this magazine was created to cover the following topics:
-Punk Rock and the Punk lifestyle.
-D.I.Y (Do It Yourself. This category can cover many different things from how to create earth friendly items to how to make stencils for a jacket. As long as it promotes the D.I.Y ethic.)
-World Issues (How do they affect you or others? Maybe you want to write about what you saw on the news or in the paper, etc.)
-Political Ideology (Originally I meant to make this magazine liberal and really free, but I understand that it's important to always at least try to hear other people's point of views even if you don't agree. But keep in mind I didn't start this to go backward, this magazine is meant to be progressive and go forward.)
-Etc. (Have a great idea? Don't be afraid to run it by me, who knows, it could be just the perfect idea! :) )

Here are some ideas of ways you can express yourself on these topics:
-Through a piece of art or a comic.
-Through a article or essay.
-Through a song or poem.
Basically, anything goes! Does it get a point accross? Then it's most likely to be printed!
Be yourself; if you're not super serious, you don't have to try to bring yourself out to be. A funny comic can go just as far as an essay, it matters how you do it. :D

Here are some things that will NOT be allowed in the magazine under any circumstances:
-Racist comments/and/or slurs.
-Homophobic or Sexist content.
-Slander. If you're going to say something is a fact, make sure it is for sure a fact.
-Hate. Remember, you may dislike a certain person, political group, etc.,'s ideas but that does NOT mean that you have the right to categorize every single person who believes differently than you do as "wrong". Have reasons behind your thinking, not just "because I said so".
*ABSOLUTELY NO PLAGIARISM. This means that if you take a direct quote from someone or something someone has written, you must either re-word it if it is from what has been written or if it is a quote/direct words, you must create a bibliography. For instructions how to create a bibliography, click here (it's easy): [link]

So, would you like to contribute to the magazine? Here's how you can do it!
-You can either send me a note on deviantART with your article/comic/etc.
-When you do this, you must include what name you would like it to say as the "Author". Would you like it to say your real name or would you like it to say a nickname?
-When you send me that note, include this information:
*Link to the piece
*The name you would like to be credited as
*The bibliography for your work (If you need one. You will only need a bibliography if you have taken a direct quote from someone or something without changing it. Remember: NEVER change words if it is from a quote because when you change someone's words they had said, you may change the meaning and that's wrong to do. Here's how to create a bibliography, like I said before: [link]

This is where the full online version of the magazine will be:
-The full online version will be posted here when finished; for now there is nothing on there because the first issue is, of course, not out yet: [link]
-But if you don't like myspace, you can also get this magazine sent to you by email!
Send an email to FLPmagazine@hotmail.com and I will add you to the mailing list where you can get Feeling Lucky, Punk? Magazine sent to you by email!
-Some articles (if the author of the articles wants their specific piece to be) will also be posted here on this deviantART page!

D.I.Y Printing
I understand that many people are not able to print out copies of this magazine to staple together and pass out at local concerts, etc., so I do not expect everyone who contributes/and/or reads this magazine to go right ahead and print;
However, anyone who does do this is appreciated. Although, you must know, even reading this is a great gesture. Knowing that your articles and art pieces are being appreciated means a lot. :)

But if you're able and want to, I would love to know if you were handing them out locally! :aww:

And last but not least, I'd like to thank =Roxy317 for putting together our awesome new icon/avatar! :D

Thanks for reading this and I hope to hear from you soon!

Oh, a little error by me, the name is "Steal This Urine Test", not blood test. Also "Soon To Be A Major Motion Picture", Best Of, etc. Lots of great books. Anyway, if you're interested, they're out there.
:iconfeelingluckypunkzine:
Thanks! I'll be sure to check 'em out.
:icontombec:
You won't regret it. :)
:iconfeelingluckypunkzine:
I found the book "Steal This Book" - it's awesome, but I have yet to find the rest.
:icontombec:
Great, do'nt worry, they're out there somewhere. :)
:icontombec:
I see you a child of the sixties, so to speak. Very impressive favorites you have. Have you ever read "Steal This Book"? Abbie reallylays it on the line. Also, "Steal This Blood Test", another gem. I've others too, they're great reading! So, welcome to DA, rookie! :D My name is Len, Kayla. Welcome!
:iconfeelingluckypunkzine:
Thank you! :aww:
And I actually haven't gotten a chance to read his books yet; I went to the bookstore a couple of days ago and the guy told me that the book "Steal This Book" has been out of print since 1995, I believe, and won't be back until 2010. I then asked him if there were any somewhat similar books there and he led me to an aisle with books about the "lamest tattoos ever" :| etc., which, of course, didn't help at all.

Thanks! (I've personally been on dA for a couple of years, but if you mean this magazine, then yes, it's just started :D ).
